Call for Papers: Special Issue on “Enlightenment, Culture, Human Being”

The  Kant Çalışmaları Journal  is publishing a special issue entitled 'Enlightenment, Culture, Human Being'.

The concepts of Enlightenment, culture and human being raise fundamental questions at the heart of modern philosophy, while also prompting us to reconsider autonomy and freedom in the context of contemporary challenges. The continuing relevance of the ideals of the Enlightenment, the conditions that make human autonomy and freedom possible, the ways in which culture shapes human beings, and the relationship between universality and particularity remain fundamental questions for contemporary philosophy.
Kantian philosophy offers an important point of departure for examining these questions. Yet his conceptions of Enlightenment, human being, culture, education, and cosmopolitanism, shaped by the intellectual and historical conditions of his time, also invite critical reassessment and reinterpretation in light of contemporary concerns. Technological transformation, the rapid development of AI, global inequalities, migration, and environmental crises have brought new dimensions to these questions, calling for renewed reflection on the meaning, scope, and normative implications of these concepts.

This special issue welcomes contributions that examine these questions both within Kant’s philosophy and in post-Kantian thought, as well as from contemporary philosophical perspectives. We invite original research articles that engage critically and substantively with the themes of the special issue and meet the submission guidelines provided below.

Manuscripts should be prepared and submitted according to the guidelines available at here. Please make sure to indicate “Enlightenment, Culture, Human Being” in the subject line when submitting.

All submissions will be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, with at least two referee reports. The journal of Kant Studies is published in print and requires no publication fee.
